2010 Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore, Monte dei Ragni, Fumane, Veneto
Product: Z4270B
Description
In many ways a ‘piccolo Amarone E the product of six weeks of drying in baskets, from pergola-trained -vines, the nose displays definite tamarind, dried fig and coffee bean notes. Zeno records an abundant harvest after a relatively cool season, hence the added freshness, accompanied by the black cherry stone core. More serious and sapido than the 2009, it has layers of dark fruit, tamarind and of spicy pepper and is blessed with a fluid, gorgeous texture. Fermented 100% in wood, followed by two-and-a-half years in used taransaud tonneaux; bottled November 2013, it is dry, with a residual sugar level of two-three.
