Description
This exceptional champagne is a darling of lovers of grower champagnes—and one can see why. It is exuberant, fresh, and crisp, yet it has excellent depth of flavour as well, with aromas of lemon peel, nectarine, passionfruit, and a hint of smoky, flinty, saline minerality. It is produced from a 1.55-hectare parcel in the village of Congy in the Coteaux du Petit Morin, planted to a mix of Pinot Noir, Meunier, and Chardonnay. The grapes are mostly 2015, fermented in used casks, and blended with a small amount of reserve wine before ageing for five years on the lees.
It was disgorged in March of 2021 with an extra-brut dosage.
