Description

Guillaume has an entire hectare here, on a north-facing slope. This previously meant picking four to five days after Grenouilles and Les Clos, but now they pick it the following day. The wine is spicy and toasty, with ripe fruit counterbalanced by a cool freshness beneath. There are several layers here, and plenty of energy.

Grown on the cooler flank so picked later on 7th September. Pale to mid lemon in colour. What a high-class bouquet, cool fresh white fruit, all in perfect place, so the picking date was evidently well chosen. Serene on the palate, the flesh is well distributed and the aftertaste engaging.

The 2022 Chablis Vaudésir Grand Cru comes from two parcels on the north-facing part of the climat, 60- and 70-year-old vines. It has a poised and focused bouquet with hints of white peach and praline infusing the minerally scents. Very composed and understated at first before gaining more intensity. The palate is well-balanced with tangy marmalade and quince, lovely depth and cohesion, equidistant between classicism and the generous, almost tropical nature of the 2022 vintage. Highly recommended.

A grand cru with concentration and ageing potential. A great combination of ripeness and richness, cut with salinity and citrus acidity. From the north-facing side of the Vaudésir valley, Michel has two parcels planted on rich clay soils. Vaudésir can be a heat trap, but for those facing north, it is less of an issue.
