Description
This is all graphite and violets on the nose. It’s got pencil shavings and peonies, followed by cassis, black tea and cloves. Silky smooth yet intensely structured, this is a giant of a Château Margaux. Bordering on monolithic, it demands time in the glass, with which it gradually reveals some of its many layers. This still feels tightly coiled and relatively youthful, and I suspect it will benefit immensely from a few more years in the cellar. The remarkably long finish is a reminder of the pedigree on show, and hints at the majestic future to come.
