A gorgeous, perfumed, floral bouquet, typically Margaux, this has a wonderful quality of tannin allied to densely concentrated fruit, producing a fabulous texture on the palate, yet all the while retaining the sublime elegance and restraint for which the wines of this property are renowned. The conditions of this vintage are tailor-made for Henri Lurton’s style of winemaking, which seeks elegance above power and to reflect the outstanding terroir with which Brane-Cantenac is blessed. I kept repeating the word ‘finesse Ewhen I tasted the wine, and then commented on the extraordinary length on the finish.
