Our Own Selection
A century ago, almost every wine we sold was done so under our own label. Today, our range has grown, but the philosophy behind our Own Selection remains unchanged: to track down the best-possible value and quality, as was recognised in 2017 and 2018, when the IWC voted it their Own Label Range of the Year.

2020 Berry Bros. & Rudd Good Ordinary Claret by Dourthe, Bordeaux
Our biggest seller for decades, “GOC is a carefully assembled blend from some of Bordeaux’s best terroirs. Merlot makes up 67% of the blend, giving the wine its silky richness. The balance is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, adding power and structure. After a year in oak, this shows why Claret is such a perennial favourite: warm, savoury aromas of cedar and woodsmoke, with supple cassis and blackberry on the palate. Designed for early drinking, this is a comfortable partner for most food, and is soft enough to be enjoyed on its own.

2021 Berry Bros. & Rudd Sancerre by Domaine David Sautereau, Loire
This cool and elegant Sancerre is made for us by 10th-generation vigneron David Sautereau. The nose is fresh and mineral, with citrus fruits mingling with crushed stone. In the mouth, the attack is precise, crisp and energetic, with pleasing mid-palate weight and a saline finish. This is excellent with fresh seafood or the local crottin de Chavignol goat’s cheese.

2020 Berry Bros. & Rudd Pauillac by Ch. Lynch Bages
For the 2020 vintage, we continue our long relationship with the Cazes family of Château Lynch-Bages. The nose is bright and fragrant, with notes of cassis, brambles and wild cherries. The palate brings more wild-berry complexity and a warming note of cedar spice from the oak barriques used during maturation.
True to its Pauillac origins, Cabernet Sauvignon dominates the blend. Merlot was particularly strong in 2020; the higher proportion than usual (36%) brings a subtle roundness to the palate. This is an approachable yet wonderfully elegant expression of Pauillac.

2022 Berry Bros. & Rudd Gavi di Gavi by Roberto Sarotto, Piedmont
The dry and warm vintage suited the Cortese grape, which retained freshness due to the mineral-rich white soils here. This is delicate and finessed, with bright aromas of spring flowers, yellow peach and citrus, and a refreshingly mineral finish. Vibrant and elegant, this is a quintessential Northern Italian white.

2021 Berry Bros. & Rudd Good Ordinary White by Dourthe, Bordeaux
This was an outstanding vintage for white Bordeaux and our “GOW”, skilfully made by Dourthe. The nose is bright and aromatic, with notes of lime, flower, elderflower and green tea leaf. The palate brings exotic fruits, typical of its 100% Sauvignon Blanc makeup. Swathes of citrus and white peach lead to a zesty burst of acidity. No oak is used, allowing the crisp, mineral profile to speak for itself. This is perfect as an apéritif or with lighter fish or chicken dishes.

2022 Berry Bros. & Rudd Bourgogne Côte d'Or Pinot Noir by Benjamin Leroux
If you order only one red Burgundy this autumn, make it this one. Every facet of stunning Côte d'Or Pinot Noir is present in this creation and the price is as competitive as I have seen this year for any epic-quality wine made from this fabulous grape. Ben Leroux's skills are well-known and here he draws on fruit harvested from od vines in Chorey-lès-Beaune to craft this expressive, silky-red-cherry perfumed wine. It is young, but there is already much to adore, from the pristine clarity of aroma and flavour to the delightfully refreshing finish
Matthew Jukes, Wine of the Week, Money Week (October 2023)
Made in collaboration with Benjamin Leroux, our Bourgogne Côte d’Or comes from old vines planted in the appellation of Chorey-lès-Beaune. The 2022 vintage seamlessly marries explosive red-berry fruit with refreshing acidity and sweet tannins. Spicy floral top notes and a hint of vanilla oak provide further complexity. This would be an excellent match with roasted poultry, grilled meats and soft cheeses.

Berry Bros. & Rudd Fino by Bodegas Emilio Lustau
Bodegas Emilio Lustau was established in 1896 and was initially a small family concern until the founder`s son-in-law placed it on a business footing. The firm is perhaps best known as pioneering the Almacenista system, whereby individual dry Sherries are produced from small private holdings. These are bottled under Lustau`s name but with the individual bodega's name on the label as well. Today they are amongst the most sought-out Sherries in the region.
The famous house of Emilio Lustau has been maturing Fino Sherries in Puerto de Santa María since 1869. This superlative example harnesses their expertise to offer a wine of great pedigree. Aromatics of sea air, yeast and green apples lead to an equally distinguished palate, which is marked by its smoky gravitas and great potential to match a wide variety of tapas dishes. -

Berry Bros. & Rudd Champagne by Mailly, Grand Cru, Brut
Sourced from the prestigious Grand Cru village of Mailly, our Own Selection Champagne is a classic blend of 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay. With more than three years’ ageing, it is a delightfully complex example of non-vintage Champagne. Aromas of brioche and flowers draw you in on the nose. The palate is elegant, marrying notes of lemongrass, gingerbread and honeysuckle.

2019 Berry Bros. & Rudd Pauillac by Château Lynch-Bages, Bordeaux
Once again, we’ve worked with the Cazes family of Château Lynch-Bages. Benefitting from the same terroir and techniques as their much-loved grand vin, this blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc is wonderfully fragrant, with layers of cassis and blackberries underpinned by sweet cedar spices and a core of graphite. It is luscious, elegant and distinctly Pauillac, with a palate of round, velvety tannins that complement the purity of the fruit. Ideal for drinking now, you could also cellar this for a couple of years.

2022 Berry Bros. & Rudd New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc by Isabel Estate, Marlborough
Award-winning winemaker Jeremy McKenzie of Isabel Estate has, once again, made a superb wine for us. A fine nose of freshly cut grass with green and yellow apple precedes a palate which is bright and full of energy. It is fabulously cleansing, moving into gooseberry and a tart kiwi twist. There is a lovely, stony purity here. This is a restrained, elegant wine that will make you want another sip.

2022 Berry Bros. & Rudd Chablis by Domaine Sébastien Dampt, Burgundy
Our Chablis has been made for us by Sébastien Dampt. The warm and dry 2022 vintage has given a ripe and fleshy citrus fruit character which combines harmoniously with the classic Chablis notes of iodine and oyster shell. Entirely unoaked, this is perfect as an apéritif or with fresh seafood.
