2023 The Sadie Family Wines Pofadder Die Distriksreeks Swartland

Named for the old railway line (Treinspoor) that abuts the vineyard, this exciting and complex wine is made from the Tinta Barrocca grape. The delicate ruby hue in the glass belies the intense character of this extraordinary wine, whose perfumed nose brings pleasurable wafts of red cherry and plum. The tannins are extremely soft on the palate, light and supple, and frame earthy liquorice notes, sweet spice and rich fruit. It is supremely elegant and balanced, with well-judged mouthwatering acidity that evolves on the long finish. What a beautiful wine; worth holding to allow further complexities to develop. Drink 2026-2045."
