2019 Volnay, Benjamin Leroux, Burgundy

As usual, there's still a healthy proportion of Premier Cru fruit from Grands Champs and La Gigotte, but not Carelle Dessous this year. The alcohol is a little higher than in 2018, but not apparent; the wine is assured and elegant. Precisely capturing the delicacy and violet perfume of Volnay, it finishes with a lift of coulis fruit.
