2022 Berry Bros. & Rudd Swartland White by The Sadie Family Wines, South Africa
We’re delighted to work with the legendary Eben Sadie for our Swartland White, a brand-new wine in our Own Selection. Eben has been planting some wonderful new vineyards over the last 10 years. In the future, he’ll use the grapes from these young vines to produce his own signature wines. For now, though, he is working exclusively with us on our Swartland White and Swartland Red.
The precise blend will change from one vintage to another; our 2022 Swartland White is a blend of Chenin Blanc and Grenache Blanc. The nose is lively, with notes of yellow apple, white flowers and honey. The palate is gorgeous with tart white peach, fine minerality and a hint of tangerine. The finish is fresh and wonderfully pure.

2022 Berry Bros. & Rudd Pouilly-Fuissé by Olivier Merlin, Burgundy
We’ve worked once again with the magical Merlin family to bring you this distinguished and characterful Pouilly-Fuissé. Carefully selected fruit from late-ripening vineyards in Vergisson, Fuissé and Chaintré gives a wine with freshness and energy. This offsets the generous stone and citrus fruits beautifully, combining with subtle oak spice, yielding a complex and layered wine. It pairs beautifully with white meats, seafood and goat’s cheese. Moreover, the bottle is capsule-free, helping reduce packaging waste.

2022 The Sadie Family Wines 'T Voetpad' Ouwingerdreeks, Old Vines Series
This 2022 ‘T Voetpad is incredibly expressive, and the usual waxy and lanolin aromatics are to be found, but the cordial limey aromatics, dried straw bales, and a dash of melon are concentrated aspects. The palate has a lingering aftertaste, is incredibly restrained, and the wine is light on its feet. The tannins are restrained, and the acidity is very soft on the f inish. It is one of this vineyard’s most elegant and refined versions. We also had to pick slightly earlier due to the looming heat waves. The wine is just a Mindbender this year.

2020 Montagny, Bonneveaux, 1er Cru, Domaine Berthenet, Burgundy
This is Berthenet’s most full-bodied style, with ample fresh stone fruit, a hint of golden apple and a touch of hazelnut. The vineyard sits right at the top of the Côte Chalonnaise, giving the wine a vibrantly charged acidity and a round, plush texture. As with his other cuvées, the élevage is carefully curated. Here, the wine is aged entirely in (30% new) demi-muids before being moved to stainless steel tanks – ensuring the wine remains vivacious and reflects its terroir. The finish is resplendent with a rich spiciness and a piquancy of flint.

2020 Trebbiano d'Abruzzo, Le Vigne, Faraone, Abruzzo, Italy
This is the pride of Faraone’s range, made from a 20-year-old single vineyard on the hills above the winery. Using 100% free-run juice, Federico then gives the wine skin-contact for two days, adding complexity and richness. The nose transports you to the Adriatic coast: salty sea breeze, white flowers, wild herbs and lemon trees. The palate is full of fleshy yellow peaches, nutty brown apples, pithy citrus and zappy mineral freshness. This is cleverly crafted and utterly charming. Enjoy it with white fish and salsa verde.

2023 Casamatta Bianco, Bibi Graetz, Tuscany, Italy
This is the baby Testamatta Bianco. It is produced using the youngest vines on the island of Giglio. The grapes are hand harvested and vinified entirely in stainless steel. The fermentation temperatures are kept low, protecting the wine’s fresh, crisp brilliance. The coastal fingerprint is unmistakable, the palate awash with grapefruit peel and lemon peel. Also present is the signature salty, fennel-like refreshment and complexity typical of Bibi Graetz’s whites. You may not have heard of Ansonica (the dominant grape), but you will certainly be pleased you found it.

2021 Moscato d'Asti, Marcarini, Piedmont
Brilliant straw-yellow color with soft green reflections. A delicate white froth evolves into a very fine and persistent perlage. Its full nose is aromatic, floral and fruity as well as intense and persistent. The taste, which is pleasantly sweet and refreshing due to the low alcohol content and correct acidity, is smooth and rich with musky sensations typical of the Moscato grape - the wine's aromatic persistence is very long and intense. This is the dessert wine par excellence and it pairs well with fresh pastries and cakes, traditional panettone, all kinds of baked desserts as well as fruit.

2019 Riesling, Domaine Rolly-Gassmann, Alsace
The historic Domaine Rolly Gassmann dates back to the 17th century. The 2019 growing season allowed the grapes to ripen gradually, resulting in a wine of perfect balance and freshness. The nose is intense, bright and enticing, with lemon sherbet and orange blossom. Upon tasting, there’s refreshing acidity and notes of citrus and stone-fruit, cushioned by a hint of sweetness that demands another sip. With a clean and saline finish, this is best enjoyed with fish or grilled-cheese dishes.

2017 Beaune Blanc, Clos des Mouches, 1er Cru, Domaine Chanson, Burgundy
This is a very charming wine, offering an expressive nose of ripe white fruit combined with sophisticated struck-match reduction and gentle oak toast. The palate is quite generous, offering richly textured white peach fruit, stylish and attractive oak spice and a keen thread of citrus acidity, finishing on a cleansing note of chalky minerals.

2012 Champagne Crété Chamberlin, Quintile, Blanc de Blancs, Grand Cru, Brut Nature
An outstanding Grand Cru Champagne from one of the most celebrated vintages in recent history. Production is a meagre 244 cases, grown from 3 small plots planted from 1963-1987and the bottles have spent over 10 years on lees.
Despite the age, this is a vibrant and incredibly precise expression of Chardonnay, with rich bursts of apple tartlets and delicate white flowers on the nose, and a graceful effervescence on the palate. With zero dosage added, you can taste every nuance of the complexities Chardonnay can offer, framed by a slightly saline note and a minerality reminiscent of crushed limestone.
Mouth-wateringly delicious, enjoy this now until 2030.
