Domaine Darviot-Perrin: Purity, Precision and Elegance

Situated in the commune of Monthélie, Domaine Darviot-Perrin has been producing wines from superlative vineyard plots in Meursault, Chassagne-Montrachet and Volnay since 1989. Didier Darviot married Geneviève (née Perrin) and so the domaine came into being. Blessed with an enviable list of Premier Cru holdings, two are consistently in a class of their own: Les Perrières, widely regarded as the first amongst equals of Meursault Premiers Crus, and Les Blanchots-Dessus, historically part of Le Montrachet Grand Cru.

The quality of the wines, which can arguably hold their own against their Grand Cru neighbours, is largely due to the age of the vines. Sixty years old on average, these deep-rooted old vines regulate their own yield, delivering small berries charged with impressive complexity. Organically farmed for the past 25 years, the estate converted to biodynamic viticulture in 2019, coinciding with the arrival of the current managing generation: Didier and Geneviève’s son, Pierre-Antonin.

Wines from Domaine Darviot-Perrin are all about purity, precision and an underlying sense of energy; none of this comes at the expense of classic terroir expression that celebrates the noble communes. The wines are bottled on the later side compared to others in the region, often spending two years on the lees.
