Champagne Siret: A must-try for any Champagne enthusiast
We are thrilled to introduce Champagne Siret, an emerging producer now looking to make wine under their own label, whose grapes were previously sold to prestigious houses Krug and Salon.
A must-try for any Champagne enthusiast, crafted by a talented brother-sister duo, having previously supplied to the highest echelons of Champagne sourced from their 4 hectares in Ambonnay and Oger ensuring the highest quality fruit. They have begun vinifying 20 plots of their own and have since expanded to 25 plots, resulting in exceptional wines that undergo oak maturation and extended lees aging (a minimum of 48 months), all while maintaining beautifully balanced low dosage.
NV Siret Frère & Sœur: Réserve Perpétuelle
HK$550 per bottle
A richly-textured and layered style of Champagne, showcasing real depth of flavour from base wine stocks. From the attack, there is a decidedly creamy mouthfeel with a real textural sheen. Brighter, wet stone and lemon rind notes can be found from the younger wines, with more currant undertones from the older wines. As well as the tightly-coiled mid-palate, which suggests potential to age, there is a very fine and elegant mousse that lends approachability right now. There is also well-judged dosage that offsets the sheer fruit intensity on the mid-palate very nicely. (60-40% Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, 8 vintages from 2021 and back, 9 months in oak on lees). - Jacky Cheng, Berry Bros. & Rudd (HK)
2013 Siret Frère & Sœur: Blanc de Blancs
HK$900 per bottle
A beautifully vinous style is obvious from first glance (golden flecks) and nose. Abundant intensity of lemon tart, roasted apple and apricot kernel notes are accented with brioche complexity from lees. A preserved lemon tartness rasps through the core of the wine, adding freshness and energy. A very linear acidic line maintains wonderful focus on this beautifully elegant Blanc de Blancs. (20% oak maturation on the vin clair). - Jacky Cheng, Berry Bros. & Rudd (HK)
2019 Siret Frère & Sœur: Rosé de Saignée
HK$650 per bottle
Enticing salmon colour (saignée method on show). Plenty of fresh cranberry and cherry fruit with the right balance of tartness as well as juiciness to the fruit core. Pleasant bitter tea and rosehip accents add real dimension to the bright, red-fruited mid-palate. More pleasantly austere and savoury on finish, with depth of flavour coming from the saignée method also. All of these components are very much in-check. (100% Pinot Noir). - Jacky Cheng, Berry Bros. & Rudd (HK)
