2021 Nuits-St Georges Vieilles Vignes Patrice & Maxime Rion Burgundy

Now run by Maxime Rion, who took over from his father, Patrice, this is an exciting domaine on a sharp upward trajectory. The fruit for this wine comes one-third from their vines in Les Plateaux, plus two-thirds from purchased fruit from Les Longecourts, just beneath the renowned Les St-Georges. The nose is elegant, with red fruits including plenty of juicy cherries. The palate is richer, and spicier, with more dark fruit but still plenty of elegance and finesse coming through on the finish.
