Our Tips for Wedding Wine
Whether you're crafting your own special day or lending a hand to a loved one, a few thoughtful touches can turn the drinks from standard to standout. Here are some effortless yet impactful tips to make sure every glass your guests raise is brimming with style and taste.
1. Do the Math
Sparkling wine: Plan for 2–3 glasses per guest, plus one extra for the toasts
Still wine: Half a bottle per person usually does the trick for a dinner, but if you have a crowd that loves some good wines - going with 3 bottles for every 2 guests adds a little cushion.
Don’t forget to enquire about corkage at your venue, and make sure you negotiate the rate.
2. Impress with Magnums and crowd-pleasing wines
Pick magnums over standard-sized bottles, where possible. They look impressive, they encourage sharing and they contribute to a festive atmosphere.
Wedding wines should also be effortlessly crowd-pleasing, equally enjoyable on their own or with food.
3. It doesn’t have to be Champagne
Even we admit that the Champagne name can carry a premium. If you are pushed for budget, there are plenty of other options like Crémant, Cava. If you want something more interesting, English Sparkling will do the trick.
4. Don’t forget the Spirit
A celebratory spirit—quite literally—is essential for those heartfelt toasts or lively “Gan Bei” moments. Whether you're sticking to tradition with fiery Chinese Baijiu, opting for timeless elegance with cognac, or bringing a modern twist with whisky or other contemporary spirits, having something to toast with at every table keeps the energy high and the guests engaged.
