Jean-Pierre’s oldest vines go into his Charmes de Mazières; the remainder, typically around 50 years old, make up this cuvée. The fruit is from two parcels: Les Chalandins and Hautes Maizières. The colour is profound and luminous. There’s a huge amount of smoky red-berry perfume, belying the tension and structure which weaves the wine together on the finish. Drink 2025-2038.
